Billie Jean King, the tennis legend who’s won 39 Grand Slam titles is speaking out against the French Open’s newly imposed dress code that will prohibit fellow tennis star Serena Williams from wearing her quintessential black catsuit on the court. King has long been an open advocate of gender equality and Tweeted, "The policing of women’s bodies must end. The 'respect' that’s needed is for the exceptional talent @serenawilliams brings to the game. Criticizing what she wears to work is where the true disrespect lies." Following the dress code announcement, many stars and companies rushed to Williams’ side to defend her right to wear whatever she pleases. Williams responded to the news with a statement indicating she’s not disturbed by the change.
