UDR, Inc. is seeking a Vice President of Organizational Development and Learning to join our team at our Corporate Office in Highlands Ranch, CO.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Human Resources professional with Organizational Development expertise to plan and direct all aspects of UDR’s organizational development and learning functions. Develops training programs, facilitates implementation of appropriate learning initiatives, and reviews current training programs to ensure alignment with company goals. Advances the company’s human capital initiatives by instilling and reinforcing a strong associate development culture with programs supported by management.
Provides organizational strategies, with the goal of helping associates perform better within an organizational context. Responsible for improving the productivity of the organizations’ associates. Assess company-wide development needs to drive learning initiatives. Actively search, creatively design, and implement effective methods to educate associates and enhance and recognize performance.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Instructional Designer, Trainer/Developer(s), Senior Trainer/Developer and Learning Developer
• Focus on training, promoting, and developing Organizational principles, such as mentoring, just in time learning, certifications, and Career Mobility available to all associates.• Maximize associate’s potential and help them amplify their contribution in furtherance of UDR’s success.• Develop and implement mentoring and coaching programs.• Help promote the company’s values throughout the workplace.• Provide advice on building effective associate development opportunities and experiences that help attract, retain, and engage the associates for high performance and job satisfaction.• Assess the company’s and associates training needs via appropriate research methods. • Provide direction for leadership initiatives.• Work effectively as a team member with other members of the management and the human resources team.• Provide sound decision making for the Company’s learning and development programs in alignment with the needs of the business.• Work closely with the Company business to define organizational structure and learning opportunities including enhancements to current programs.• Coach and advise management on workforce development needs, leadership styles, and facilitate strategy to address gaps. • Develop and monitor spending against the departmental budget. • Oversee the design and facilitation of management and associate training programs. • Stay abreast of current techniques, methods, and skills appropriate to organizational development functions. Define and collect key metrics to enable accurate and valid measurements of workforce performance, training effectiveness, and to identify areas for improvement. • Develop and lead the organizational development staff, to maximize potential.• Complete complex projects on deadline in conjunction with day-to-day activities. • Assess training curricula and technology ensuring effectiveness and quality standards regularly.• Hire and train new staff as needed.• Supervise direct reporting staff in accordance to overall company policy.• Monitor staff performance including performance reviews and address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal.• Approve time records and requests for time off.• Assist direct reporting associates to address and resolve concerns or complaints involving job duties and job descriptions, performance standards, relations with coworkers, relations with supervisors and managers.• Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Knowledge and understanding of business research principles, processes, and techniques. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve every day and/or complex company issues.
Requires broad and current knowledge of organizational development methods. Ability to manage a business unit, division or corporate function with major organizational impact. Has acquired the business acumen and leadership experience to become a top division head.
Ability to develop and prepare business analysis, innovation, and plans. Must have tertiary understanding in human resources, training and development or business studies. Knowledge of training methods and techniques; instructional objectives and methodologies; and evaluation and design of instructional programs. Knowledge of strategic business decision-making. Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools. Perform duties that require strong comprehension, analytical, research, composition, communication, considerable initiative, independent judgment and organizational skills.
Ability to create momentum and foster organizational change. Ability to exercise initiative, problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities. Ability to travel when applicable. Ability to work in a fast paces environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines.

Knowledge of computer systems, smart phones and computer applications. Skilled in the use of spreadsheet, relational database, and word processing software. Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires mobility sufficient to travel. Some bending, stooping and stretching. Occasionally lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Physical presence onsite is required to perform essential job functions unless otherwise noted.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Some travel required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or Liberal Arts is required. Master’s degree in Organizational Development is preferred.• Minimum of 15 years of experience as Human Resources Generalist with a minimum of seven years of experience in oversight of the learning and development function including developing and executing learning programs as well as providing organizational development support.• Experience with HR metrics related to training and organizational development measurements.• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license unless otherwise noted.
