Reporting to the SVP Corporate Affairs, this position serves as the internal communications lead for the organization and will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic team member communications aligned with top business priorities to increase team member engagement and drive business results. This positions leads a team responsible for collaborating with business partners to implement best in class strategic and change management communications.

Structure, Strategy and Deployment of Content

* Analyze current company's internal communication program and provide strategy and input for annual plan.

* Lead effort to re-haul and launch team member intranet (My24) as a resource for information and company news on a wide range of topics (leadership messages, corporate announcements, company news, new hires/promotions/service awards, policies etc.).

* Provide strategy for company's engagement and ensure execution through communications team and partnerships throughout the organization.

* Manage and measure effective digital communications tactics and tools to better engage with team members and improve audience reach.

* Develop and maintain editorial calendar of fresh, relevant and compelling team member content to inform and influence team members.

* Provide integrated internal communication support (executive communication materials, articles, talking points, scripts, corporate emails, cascade calls etc.) to support leaders, business units, councils and key corporate initiatives.

* Member of Operations Leadership Team responsible for leading near term business results.


Internal communications

* Lead Executive Communications with a focus on the CEO and COO to support effective two-way associate communications and build a strong culture of informed and engaged team members Identify and share compelling team member success stories and best practices to inspire pride and loyalty in the company.

* Lead team responsible for all logistics, content and experimental aspects of internal functions, meetings and events- including a GM Summit of over 600 participants.

* Lead both Corporate and Field communications team creating consistency and synergies to effectively have a singular voice as "Internal Communications".

* Build storytelling infrastructure for engaging team members through rich, inspiring and impactful stories


Business Partner Communication

* Cultivate effective, strategic relationships with business partners (Field Divisions, HR, Real Estate, Fitness, Retail and Operations) throughout the organization and provide counsel and guidance on tactics, timing, and medium(s) for message delivery to target audiences.

* Draft, review and edit internal communications as appropriate for all business partners and departments to ensure consistency.

* Serve as internal brand steward to maintain consistent messaging in all materials and communications to align with corporate strategy.

* Collaborate with key business partners and advise on communication gaps and messaging opportunities.






This position work closely with senior executives, functional and field leaders. This role manages the Communications staff including Sr. Manager to Specialist level team members.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· A self-starter with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

· Team player with strong relationship-building skills across all levels.

· Experience in managing communications through multiple channels (web/intranet, print, video, social media, blogs, project management etc.).

· Demonstrated professional maturity with ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

· Confidence while interacting and providing counsel to senior leadership about communication topics and techniques.

· Technologically savvy and proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Products (Presenter, Captivate, Flash, Professional Series) and Intranet Software (Rhythmyx).

· Creative with an eye for design and layout of visually appealing content.

· Quick-learner with problem-solving ability who can work well under pressure with ever-changing deadlines.

· Strategic, innovative and goal-oriented to achieve results.

Minimum Educational Level/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in Journalism, Mass Media, English or Marketing.

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications

· 10-15+ years of previous corporate communications, journalism or public relations experience.

· 5+ years leading and managing an internal communications team.

Physical Demands/ Environmental Conditions

  • Occasional light lifting, walking, standing.
  • Repetitive use of hands - keyboarding functions.
  • Standard office environment noise.

Travel Requirement

  • Availability to travel 10% of the time.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with multi-unit retail or hospitality.

· Experience with Reflexis (CORE), Droople (Blog) and Spelt (Site Analytics).

· Ability to provide vision and direction to teams across all levels.

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Educational Level/Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Work Experience and Qualification

  • Corporate experience in, agency, marketing communications or human resources experience.
  • Employee and corporate communications experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Public Relations experience.
  • Prior work in Fitness or Retail industry.

Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to member and team members, contracted providers and vendors.
