Father’s Day is a moment to celebrate the dads in our lives, and to reflect on what it means to show up for both family and career. For many working fathers, pursuing professional growth while being present at home can feel like a constant balancing act. But with the right support, it’s possible to thrive in both roles.
Supporting working dads isn’t just good for fathers—it’s a key part of building a more equitable workplace for everyone. When men are encouraged and empowered to fully participate in family life, it helps break down outdated gender norms, eases the burden on mothers and caregivers, and promotes a culture where all employees can prioritize both career and home.
We asked dads across a variety of companies how their workplaces empower them to succeed at work while staying engaged as parents. From flexible schedules and family-friendly events to inspiring leaders who model work-life balance, these fathers shared how their employers foster both career progression and meaningful parenting.
Here’s what they had to say.
How has your company supported your career progression while you’ve managed parenting duties?
William Lumabas, Staff Marketing Manager, Digital Experience - Web and SEO, Intuit
“The Intuit Brand and Transformation team has been really supportive for new and seasoned parents alike. We actively share milestones and pictures of our children in-person and on Slack. My manager (shout out John!) continues to be an advocate for my career by suggesting methods to improve soft skills and hard skills by finding opportunities in projects, utilizing Learning and Development resources, and encouraging cross collaboration and communication with our other counterparts in the company.”
Are there any leaders or peers at your company who inspire you as a parent?
“My journey at Intuit began before I started my own family, and now, as a father of two, I've been incredibly fortunate to witness and learn from inspiring parents like Alyssa Low and Vincent Deng, who have shared their experiences and offered invaluable advice. I'm moved by the experiences of second-generation children of immigrant parents. Seeing how other parents are doing it is profoundly inspiring. It serves as a powerful reminder that our role as parents is to give all that we can and pass on our values to guide our children to become compassionate, well-rounded individuals.”
Kevin Mendoza, CAD Designer, Seven Seas Water Group
“Since joining Seven Seas, I’ve found more than a job; I’ve found a community of mentors, friends, and leaders who genuinely want to see each other grow. The company has supported my development as both a professional and a parent. Initiatives like Bring Your Kids to Work Day and family-focused events create a meaningful bridge between home and work life. I’m grateful to work in an environment where knowledge is shared, growth is encouraged, and being a father is celebrated.”
Taylor Quinn, Manager, Talent Programs, Delaware North
"Being a father has shaped the kind of leader I strive to be—present, supportive, and grounded in purpose. At Delaware North, I’m empowered to excel at my work without sacrificing the moments that matter most at home. Because of their flexibility and values-driven culture, my son has been able to experience life with his dad by his side since the moment he opened his eyes. This Father’s Day, I’m grateful to work for a place that helps me be the dad my son deserves, and a leader my team can count on."
Derek Schwartz, Manager 3, Data Science, Intuit
“Intuit has been a great place for me to work and grow my family. When I started at Intuit, I had just one dog with my wife and now we have two kids and two dogs, who are definitely a handful. My manager and partners are completely understanding of my availability when I need to do school drop-offs and pickups, stay home with a sick child, or attend a school event. This provides true psychological safety where I am not forced to choose between work and my family, but where I can truly prioritize both.”
Are there any leaders or peers at your company who inspire you as a parent?
“There are absolutely key leaders at Intuit who inspire me as a parent. They role model how to be an active and present parent while also succeeding in their role. For example, making time for their kids by attending school events, taking care of them when they’re sick, and going on family vacations. However, they lean into work during critical moments such as working late into the evening. Finally, they are comfortable allowing work and home life to blend such as bringing kids to approved work events and sharing pictures with their team family outings.”
Roberto Rodriguez, Project Manager, AUC Group, Seven Seas Water Group
“First off, the company’s offering of a hybrid work schedule helps me be present in the daily activities to my son and daughter along with being a father figure to my nephews, nieces, and grandniece. Most importantly, having supportive management leaders has fostered a trusting culture, which demonstrates the balanced value of not only my professional role but also my family’s importance. This allows me to enjoy both my career development within this new industry coming from the Energy Sector (Oil & Gas) and achieving my professional goals while effectively managing my parenting duties.”
Tony Wieber, Senior Sales Manager, American Axle & Manufacturing
“AAM has been supportive of my career progression while allowing me to balance parenting through flexible work arrangements, career development opportunities, and a work-life balance culture. Specifically, remote workdays, paternity leave, and the general supportive environment that recognizes the challenges of working parents.”
Are there any leaders or peers at your company who inspire you as a parent?
“I find John Salter, VP Sales, to be one of AAM's inspiring leaders. He's raised three successful children while navigating the dynamic automotive industry for over three decades. He is not only inspiring as a soon to be father of three myself, but he has played a crucial role in my career development at AAM.”
Jairo Carlin Yanayaco, Plant Manager, Seven Seas Water Group
“Family is a core value within the company, and although my sense of responsibility toward my work sometimes keeps me away from home for a week, I have the flexibility to return whenever needed. Moreover, during my days off, my leader always encourages me to spend quality time with my family. Working for a company that supports my role as a father is motivating and inspires me to give my best every day to achieve results. I’m grateful to the company for all the benefits it provides to ensure my children’s well-being.”
