Two career paths, one strong foundation

Careers rarely follow a straight line, but successful ones often share a few key elements: support, dedication, and the chance to grow through real experience.

At Fisher Investments, employees say they’ve experienced that combination firsthand. From college interns to senior leaders, the firm provides structured development, clear pathways for internal mobility, and resources designed to support individuals’ goals.

We spoke with two employees who began their careers at Fisher and used those opportunities to build momentum early on. Their paths look different, but both reflect the impact of a strong foundation. Read their stories below to learn how Fisher supported their growth from the start!

Building momentum early & learning the essentials

Jessi B.’s career at Fisher Investments started with a summer sales internship before her senior year of college. “What initially attracted me to Fisher was the culture,” she says. “Many of my peers were in a similar stage of life, and there was a strong sense of motivation and drive across the organization. It was clear that people were genuinely invested in their own success, as well as the success of those around them.”

She accepted a full-time role after graduation and is now a Senior Account Executive (AE). She spends her days talking to prospective clients, educating them on what Fisher does, and connecting them with a Regional Vice President of Sales to determine if Fisher is the right fit for them.

“Motivation, discipline, and a strong work ethic are essential for success in this role,” Jessi says. “Being coachable is equally important. Learning from others who have already found success and applying their guidance has been invaluable. At Fisher, there is a strong culture of mentorship and support, which makes continuous improvement possible.”

That support starts on day one. New AEs are paired with mentors who have a track record of success in the role. “This support system helps new employees feel welcome and equips them with the tools they need to succeed,” Jessi says. “I truly would not be where I am today without my mentors.” As they gain tenure, AEs work more closely with Regional Vice Presidents, who serve as strong mentors and examples of successful sales professionals.

That foundation, combined with her own tenacity, helped Jessi quickly earn a promotion to Senior Account Executive—one of her proudest accomplishments. “I consistently worked toward my goals and maintained strong daily efforts to get there, which ultimately led to this achievement,” she says.

Along the way, she built essential sales skills—communication, adaptability, and understanding client needs—to support her career goals. “This role has been an incredible opportunity for me, both professionally and personally, and I am grateful to have found Fisher right after college. I have built lasting friendships and found a company where I see myself for the long term.”

Her advice? “Work hard, stay disciplined, and take the role seriously.”

Building a foundation for a strong career

As a manager of entry-level employees, Molly E. understands just how impactful—and rare—Fisher's commitment to career development is.

Molly joined Fisher as a Client Services Junior Associate shortly before graduating from college. Since then, her path has embodied the firm’s goal of building breadth and depth in their employees. As an Onboarding Coordinator (OC), she developed a specialized, in-depth understanding of her role before expanding her scope as the firm grew and changed. Now she works as an Onboarding Team Leader and helps guide new OCs in their careers.

Her trajectory, she says, reflects an environment intentionally designed to develop entry-level employees. “The culture pushes you and helps you prepare for whatever you want to do next at Fisher,” she says, explaining that many associates join straight out of college. “The firm encourages associates to meet with mentors in other departments, attend shadow sessions, and participate in trainings to equip them with the necessary tools and knowledge as they enter into the corporate world.”

Molly’s foundation was built in client onboarding, a role that sits at the intersection of sales, service, and portfolio management. Coordinators guide new high net worth clients through account setup, funding transfers, and documentation. The work is interactive and cross-functional, requiring associates to strengthen their networking, communication, and customer service skills.

“Some of the most essential skills are time management and organization,” she says. “You need to keep yourself incredibly organized to make sure the onboarding process goes smoothly yet swiftly.” Over time, she refined her approach through repetition, developing systems that allowed her to manage complex workflows with confidence.

The kind of operational fluency achieved as an OC, Molly says, can serve as a springboard into a wide range of roles at the firm. “Interdepartmental growth looks different for everyone,” she explains. While vertical growth is common within the OC teams, some OCs transition into roles in investment counseling, research, marketing, analytics, portfolio management, and more.

Now as a manager, Molly sees her department as a strong training ground. “The skills you acquire during your time here are second to none,” she says. “You will leave here with strong organizational, operational, and communication skills that you can take with you wherever you go next. Take everything in, become an expert, and seize your opportunities.”
