Celebrating its 10th birthday this year, HubSpot is a global inbound marketing and sales platform that helps companies grow. Over 19,000 customers in more than 90 countries use HubSpot’s software, services, and support to transform the way they attract, engage, and delight customers. HubSpot’s inbound marketing software includes social media publishing and monitoring, blogging, SEO, website content management, email marketing, marketing automation, and reporting and analytics, all in one integrated platform. HubSpot’s award-winning sales application enables sales and service teams to have more effective conversations with leads, prospects, and customers.

With approximately 1,500 employees, HubSpot is a global company with offices in Cambridge, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Dublin, Ireland; Sydney, Australia; Singapore; and most recently, Tokyo, Japan.

What is your company’s mission?

What are your company’s core values?

As a company, HubSpot was started to rethink how companies market and sell to match how consumers actually shop and buy. As a workplace, HubSpot set out from the start to create a workplace that matches how people actually want to live and work. We hire remarkable people, and believe in being radically transparent and giving them as much autonomy as possible.

We care so much about culture that one of our co-founders codified our approach in a slide deck we call the culture code , which has been viewed almost 3 million times. In our culture code, we describe how we look for people who embody HEART: Humble, Effective, Adaptable, Remarkable, and Transparent.

Do you have any women on your executive team and/or board?

We have lots of women at HubSpot who are helping to direct current and future growth of the company. Aside from our VP of Culture & Experience, Katie Burke , our VP of Marketing, Meghan Keaney Anderson , our VP of Global Customer Success Management & International Services, Julie Hogan , and our VP of Operations, Alison Elworthy , HubSpot has two female board members, industry veterans Lorrie Norrington and Julie Herendeen , and four female advisory board members, Patty McCord , Amy Chang , Jill Rowley, and Selina Tobaccowala . We also have more than seventeen women currently serving in director level roles.

You have a great overall score on InHerSight, what are some of the policies or programs that are most popular with the women at your company?

HubSpot champions women and their career growth on all fronts. Through our Women@HubSpot group, we organize programming that promotes and empowers women by identifying opportunities towards career growth. For example, this year we’ve hosted Women@Work networking events with TripAdvisor and Wayfair, International Women’s Day celebrations across our global offices, and multiple Women on Board events to encourage more female leadership at the highest ranks of companies.

Additionally, HubSpot really values working parents, offering flex time, flexible working hours, and work from home options for all HubSpot employees, as well as twelves weeks paid maternal leave and four weeks paid paternal leave for new parents. We also eliminate sales quotas for expecting parents during the month they are scheduled to go on parental leave and for the duration of their leave. This policy alleviates stress for new parents who will still maintain 100% of both their base salary and their commission while on leave and are still competitively positioned for promotions during their time away.

Finally, new mothers at HubSpot have access to private feeding rooms at all HubSpot offices globally, as well as mother and parents Slack channels and online discussion groups.

How would you describe your company’s culture?

Our culture is built to give remarkable people the autonomy they need to do amazing work and transparency to grow and learn every day. Flexible hours, unlimited vacation time , and tuition reimbursement that kick in on day one create an environment that balances freedom with accountability to an unprecedented degree. While the atmosphere here is seriously productive, don’t be fooled: we don’t take ourselves too seriously. From company wide spelling bee’s to employee scavenger hunts, every day is unique. And with walls of snacks, a full-service coffee bar, and beer on tap, we’ve got way more than the basics covered.

At the end of the day, however, it’s really our people that set us apart. HubSpotters live by an “always be learning” philosophy, and recognize the unique value that each and every individual brings to the organization.

Does your company have executive level support for diversity initiatives?

At HubSpot, diversity and inclusion transcend who we are and what we do. As such, we prioritize diversity in the recruiting process, and we make inclusion a core part of our employment brand.

HubSpot has executive level buy-in and participation for all D&I initiatives, with the VP of Culture & Experience, Katie Burke , serving as the D&I executive sponsor. One of HubSpot’s co-founders, Dharmesh Shah , as a person of color and first generation tech leader himself, is particularly passionate about these issues and will be sharing his personal story at an event HubSpot is hosting this fall called “Breaking Barriers: FirstGens in Tech.”

Additionally, executive leadership supports HubSpot’s internal affinity groups, including the LGBTQ Alliance, the People of Color at HubSpot, and of course, Women@HubSpot. These internal organizations aim to create a culture that attracts, retains, promotes, and empowers HubSpotters who identify as members of these groups (and allies) by creating safe spaces, providing resources for career development, and offering educational opportunities. We’ve been thrilled to have executive leaders continually speak as panelists at events hosted by these groups, particularly our Women on Board events.

What would you tell prospective female employees about why your company is a great place to work?

HubSpot is well aware of the gender diversity problem in the tech sphere, and as a result tirelessly dedicates itself to establishing a supportive and diverse workplace environment with an emphasis on gender inclusivity.
