This article is part of InHerSight's How I Found My Footing series. Everyone has a story about the moment things finally clicked. In this series, women share the turning points, challenges, and mentors that helped them grow—and the lessons they carry forward.

I began my career on an industrial power project as a craft laborer, where I quickly saw the grit, teamwork, and resilience it takes to deliver in the field.

From there, I built my career through a variety of field assignments and roles across power, oil and gas, solar, nuclear, and mining projects—gaining firsthand experience with the people, challenges, and cultures that make these industries unique.

That path eventually led me into human resources, where I’ve supported thousands of craft and staff employees in areas such as hiring, employee relations, mobilization, training, and retention. Along the way, others recognized my dependability, adaptability, and willingness to learn. That trust translated into more responsibility, new opportunities, and ultimately, bigger roles.

Today, as a talent acquisition manager at MasTec Industrial, I bring that field perspective into the corporate space. I’ve helped design and implement streamlined hiring processes, workforce planning strategies, and retention programs, all aimed at making life easier for employees and supporting project success. At the heart of my role is a simple goal: find the best person for the job and align talent with opportunity in a way that supports both the individual’s growth and the company’s mission.

My journey from the field to the corporate office is a reminder that careers in construction can grow in meaningful and unexpected ways. I’m proud to work for a company where “People Matter” isn’t just a slogan, it’s a value we live every day through the opportunities we create and the people we support.
