Company Description
Govini is a data and analytics firm dedicated to transforming the business of national security through data science and machine learning.  Through its analytic platform, Govini delivers objective, decision-grade information at scale to the U.S. national security enterprise, so that leaders can better direct investments to innovation and modernization.  Govini has offices in Arlington, Virginia, San Francisco, California, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Job Description
We are seeking highly-motivated Analysts to join our Advisory Services team to perform in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses on problems of utmost importance to U.S. national security.  These problems include, for example, aligning Defense Department resources with its strategic aims, identifying investments that drive performance outcomes, isolating inefficiencies in business operations, and safeguarding the integrity of the Nation’s centers of innovation.  Analysts are responsible for communicating these data-driven insights to executives in the national security community using data visualization tools, compelling written papers, and oral presentations.

In order to do this job well, you must be analytical, curious, and driven to make an impact.  You ask the hard, uncomfortable questions. You speak truth to power, yet have a professional acumen that allows you to lead conversations with Senate-confirmed officials.  You have a passion for great work and nothing less than your best will do. You share our intolerance of mediocrity. You’re uber smart, naturally drawn to figuring things out and producing simple solutions to complex problems.  You know there are always multiple answers to hard problems, and you know how to engage in a constructive dialogue to find the best path forward. You’re scrappy. We like scrappy.

Scope of Responsibilities
    • Work with national security professionals on their critical business questions and how they can be answered
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to establish objective and accurate views of business operations and recommendations to improve performance
    • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in key knowledge areas, such as national security strategy, federal budgeting and procurement processes, and government contracting
    • Present findings in a concise and compelling manner to executives

Qualifications

      • U.S. Citizenship is required
Required Skills
      • Bachelor’s degree in econometrics, statistics, business analytics or public policy
      • 2-5 years experience using quantitative analytic techniques; preference for deep research, analysis, data abstraction and data manipulation skills
      • Familiarity with national security strategy and policy, particularly federal budgeting and procurement processes as well as the government contracting landscape
      • Strong business acumen, excellent professional demeanor with a willingness to work outside of your comfort zone without hesitation
      • Referenceable history of exceptional performance conducting high-quality analysis
      • Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills
      • Ability to manage multiple work-streams and projects from start to finish, to learn quickly, and to work independently with little supervision
      • Proficiency with one or more of the following; Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Qlik, SAS/SPSS/STATA, SQL, Python and/or R or technical equivalent
Desired Skills
    • Current possession of a U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one
    • Experience with the nuances of a startup environment

We firmly believe that past performance is the best indicator of future performance.  If you thrive in ambiguity, are a self-starter, and care about solving technology problems in the national security domain, we’re eager to hear from you.
