This article is part of InHerSight's Partners in Diversity series. Discover companies partnering with InHerSight to better support women in the workplace.

The average person will spend roughly one-third of their life at work. That’s a lot of time. In order to remain motivated over the course of a decades-long career, it’s vital to work for employers who will actively invest in a range of benefits and perks to help you show up to work authentically and feel like a whole human being. Your growth, development, and success—both inside and outside of work—deserve to be prioritized and celebrated.

For Women’s History Month, we asked a few of our partners to describe the benefits and policies they offer that directly support the women at their company. Whether it’s through family planning support, chances to learn on the job, or safe spaces for connection and mentorship, it’s clear that these companies want to help women achieve better work-life balance, stay physically and mentally healthy, and remain happy at work.

Below, discover 10 of InHerSight’s employer partners offering unique benefits packages that suit the different needs of women and build an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and supported holistically.

Company: VTS

What they do: VTS is the commercial real estate industry’s only technology company that unifies owners, operators, brokers, and tenants in a single platform to capitalize on opportunities revealed in every square foot of their properties.

How they support women employees:

VTS is committed to providing benefits that support women. Most notably, our partnership with Maven provides resources and support for fertility, adoption, surrogacy, pregnancy, postpartum, loss, and return to work coaching. This program is free for all VTS employees and is used alongside our parental leave policy. Having access to a family planning program is important for helping our employees navigate the balance between career and personal life. On top of that, having a service that connects you with mental health specialists during times of need is invaluable.

In addition to Maven, our Benefits team at VTS is always programming events geared towards women. This includes, but is not limited to, custom financial wellness sessions for women with Betterment and facilitating important conversations with guest speakers on topics concerning women. Finally, the women of VTS have built an inclusive community. We have a dedicated Slack group for women which provides a safe space to ask questions, share advice, and seek help for any questions our employees have.

Company: KinderCare Learning Companies

What they do: KinderCare Learning Companies is the nation’s largest provider of unparalleled early learning, helping children explore their limitless potential and giving their families the freedom and flexibility to do the same.

How they support women employees:

We’re incredibly proud of our organization’s commitment to supporting women and fostering a family-friendly workplace culture through our benefits program. A valuable benefit we offer to all employees and their immediate family members is free mental health support on a wide range of topics including individual counseling, couples counseling, parenting support, and stress management.

We recognize World Mental Health Day as a company, leveraging it as an ongoing opportunity to normalize conversations about mental health, encouraging employees to use this benefit when they need it. Another benefit that’s near and dear to us is our well-utilized child care discount, offering employees a deep discount on child care at any of our company-owned centers, before or after school programs, or summer camp locations. This benefit creates more freedom for employees to focus on their career and worry less about finding quality child care for their own children.

Company: DriveTime Family of Brands

What they do: DriveTime Family of Brands—DriveTime, Bridgecrest, and SilverRock—is the largest privately owned used car sales finance and servicing company in the nation. They create opportunities and improve the lives of customers and employees by placing a focus on putting the right customer, in the right vehicle, on the right terms and on their path to ownership.

How they support women employees:

As an organization, DriveTime Family of Brands is dedicated to fostering the professional development and growth of our women employees. Each segment of our business has a leadership development program, empowering women to advance their careers and take on leadership roles within our organization. These programs provide tailored guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for skill enhancement, ensuring that our women employees have the support needed to lead, not just manage.

Additionally, we offer a range of learning opportunities, certification programs and webinars, equipping our women employees with the tools and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles. Whether it’s mastering new technologies or gaining industry-specific certifications, we invest in our employees’ continuous learning so they can take their careers to that next level.

Company: Procore Technologies

What they do: Procore Technologies’ cloud-based construction management software streamlines the entire lifecycle of a construction project, connecting field and office teams, centralizing data to mitigate risks, providing real-time financials, and more to help clients efficiently build everything from skyscrapers to hospitals to airports.

How they support women employees:

Procore is a people-first company, and our benefits package is designed to support our employees' physical, mental, and financial wellbeing. For many of us, building a family is something we’ll do while simultaneously growing our careers, and Procore supports all paths to parenthood. We offer fertility, adoption, and surrogacy benefits, as well as paid parental leave and a gradual return to work. And when you’re back at work, you have the opportunity to join our Caregivers Employee Resource Group, a place to continue to build your network of support with other Procorians who cultivate and advocate for inclusive policies. Bonus benefit: our people-first culture means you shouldn’t be surprised to see future and furry Procorians join meetings on the regular.

Company: Bandwidth

What they do: Bandwidth is a software company that’s transforming the way people communicate and challenging old telecom standards and powering some of the most important communications technologies on the market today—names like Google, Skype, and Ring Central.

How they support women employees:

Bandwidth supports every employee by staying committed to our Whole Person Promise, which provides avenues to ensure the health and wellbeing of body, mind, and spirit. One way women specifically benefit from this is through our parental leave policy, reimbursement of labor and delivery deductibles, and out-out-network Doula care. Parental leave consists of 16 weeks, fully paid, followed by a transition period of eight weeks where returning employees are granted full pay while working part-time. This “phasing in” process supports a mother’s recovery and bonding with the new baby.

Bandwidth’s support for mothers doesn’t end there, though. We have curated a Child Development Center on campus where any Bandwidth parent has the ability to bring their new baby to work with them each day, have access for daytime visits, and participate in feedings directly here on campus. Our Guide and Thrive program offers continued behavioral and mental health support well into the postpartum period and we also offer Care.com memberships for those looking for alternative care and support with family life.

Company: Taulia

What they do: Taulia delivers working capital solutions that make it easy for businesses to free up cash, accelerate payments, and improve supply chain health.

How they support women employees:

We go beyond the ordinary to provide comprehensive benefits that address various aspects of their lives. Our unique offerings include a generous three months of paid parental leave, ensuring that new parents, especially working moms, have the time and flexibility to adjust to the demands of parenthood. Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we facilitate flexible work hours for mothers returning from leave, empowering them to manage their professional and personal responsibilities effectively. Moreover, we understand the significance of supporting breastfeeding mothers, which is why we have lactation rooms available in every office, providing a comfortable and private space for nursing.

To foster a sense of community and shared experiences, our dedicated Working Mom's Slack channel serves as a platform for moms to exchange advice, insights, and support on navigating the challenges of being a working mother. LIFT Women actively engages in discussions addressing mental health. This initiative provides a safe and supportive space for women to share their struggles.

Company: InfoTrust

What they do: InfoTrust is a privacy-centric digital analytics solutions company that empowers marketers to make confident, data-driven decisions. Working with many of the world’s best-known brands, they partner with enterprise organizations in the CPG, retail, media, health, and finance spaces.

How they support women employees:

Our organization proudly offers a vast array of invaluable benefits tailored specifically to empower and uplift our women employees. Among these, our esteemed parental leave program stands out as a paramount perk, granting an ample 12 weeks of paid time off at a generous 100% paid rate for those who have dedicated a year to our cause. After this period, parents are given the option to gradually ease back into their professional duties through a part-time arrangement, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition back to full-time work. Furthermore, we extend a gracious sum of $500 to cover any necessary travel and accommodation expenses related to vital medical procedures not readily available in your locale, such as reproductive care and pediatric specialists.

Company: Markforged

What they do: Markforged produces the leading additive manufacturing platform for manufacturing and factory floors. Their cloud-based and AI-powered platform, The Digital Forge, connects software, 3D printers, and materials to empower engineers and designers to quickly move from design to fully-functional industrial parts.

How they support women employees:

We offer maternity benefits that allow a new mom to receive 12 full weeks of pay. (Paternity leave is also a thing here at Markforged! We grant new dads six weeks of full pay.) We have held financial wellbeing seminars geared toward women and investing, as well as breast cancer awareness activities like fundraisers and guest speakers. This year, part of our wellness series focuses on women's health as they age and caring for elderly parents. We offer a variety of exercise classes, nutrition seminars, and self-defense instruction. WAM+ (Women at Markforged) also has a dedicated Slack channel and budget to support one another in the workforce with guest speakers, book clubs, and more.

Company: Northwestern Mutual

What they do: Through a holistic planning approach, Northwestern Mutual combines the expertise of its financial professionals with a personalized digital experience and industry-leading products to help clients plan for life’s most important moments.

How they support women employees:

From work-life balance to opportunities to learn and grow, there are so many ways a career at Northwestern Mutual supports women. First off, we offer a hybrid work approach. Our Milwaukee teams work in-office three days a week, and New York teams come in two days a week. We offer paid time off, including 16 hours of paid volunteer time, giving you the flexibility to live your life. Our Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) is more than 1,600 members strong, and the ERG provides various programs, events, and opportunities throughout the year for women and allies.

For women in the workplace, we know mentorship can be especially valuable. It’s why we are intentional in creating dedicated programs that uplift women through all stages of their career. We offer programs for women in our Women’s ERG, Women in Technology, VIBE (Visible Intentional Black Excellence), and more. We’re also committed to hiring more women, especially in leadership roles. We believe the collective ideas, opinions, and creativity of a diverse workforce is necessary to serve our clients.

Company: Palo Alto Networks

What they do: Global cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks empowers service providers, government entities, and enterprises to secure applications, users, data, networks, clouds, and devices.

How they support women employees:

At Palo Alto Networks, we strive to support our employees—especially those navigating difficult circumstances. In light of the new legislation out of California requiring employers to provide five covered leave of absence days for employees who’ve experienced a reproductive loss, we are rolling this out for all employees in the U.S. We understand that grieving is a deeply personal journey, and our enhanced Bereavement Leave for Reproductive Loss reflects our dedication to providing meaningful support.

In addition to this leave, employees also have access to confidential and personalized emotional wellbeing support through Modern Health. And if the time comes to explore expanding their family after a reproductive loss, we also provide support and resources for exploring alternative paths to building their families.
